Pequannock High School Marching Band Wins First Place at National Championship
Pompton Plains, NJ - The Pequannock Township High School Marching Band was awarded First Place at the USBands National Championship. The Band, competing in Group 3A (bands between 54 and 70 members) was awarded this distinction at the Competition held on Sunday, Nov 3, 2019 at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown, PA.
Competing against ten High School Marching Bands from six states across the Northeastern United States, the Golden Panthers Marching Band was also awarded the Caption Awards for "Best Visual", "Best Percussion" & "Best Color Guard" for receiving the highest scores in those three categories. Group 3A High Schools at the competition have an average enrollment around 1,300 students, while Pequannock is one of the smallest high schools represented at the National Competition with under 700 students.
The band’s first place at the National Competition follows their National Championship earned in 2008 and 2017. The Band is led by Mr. Anthony Streifer, who is in his fifth year as Director of Bands at PTHS. He is assisted by Mr. Bruno Mayoria.
The Band would like to thank all the parents, administrators and friends who assist & support the Band and the Band Parents year round, providing the opportunity for students to be able to perform in the many music activities at Pequannock High School to the best of their ability.
